Mickey & Minnie Mouse Birthday Cupcakes

Walt Disney's Mickey & Minnie Mouse have always had a special place in my heart...Not only do I grow up watching each & every one of their shows, they also symbolize 'youth' to me in my adult life...Mickey & Minnie Mouse never fails to make me feel like a kid as each time I see Mickey & Minnie Mouse, I'll get transported to my childhood years....I sure miss those care-free years! :-P

I recently had another sweet memory associated with Mickey & Minnie Mouse, only this time it involved my baking ;-) My 1st attempt at making Mickey & Minnie Mouse cupcakes was highlighted in The Cupcake Blog, which is one of the US top cupcakes blog. Truth be told, I'm still giddy with excitement over this :-P A huge deal when you're a novice baker like me *big grin* Special thanks to Amanda from The Cupcake Blog, for giving me the extra boost in pursuing my passion :-)

The month of March had been a great month for me when it comes to Mickey & Minnie Mouse as I was again honored to be given a chance to bake yet another set of Mickey & Minnie Mouse cupcakes. This time it was an order from a new customer of mine, Eileene of Kota Damansara. It's always a pleasure to receive new customers & Eileene is no exception. She's such a pleasant person to talk to. Eileene wished to order a birthday cake cuppies for her daughter, Renee, who's celebrating her 3rd birthday.

Renee is such a huge fan of Mickey & Minnie Mouse according to Eileene and with this in mind, I set out to bake Renee's special birthday cake cuppies...

To Eileene, thank you for allowing my goodies to be a part of Renee's special day. I am truly humbled by the opportunity given. My biggest thanks to you as well for taking the time to text & letting me know how much Renee & your family had loved the cupcakes.

To dear Renee, happy birthday sweet girl!

Old Western Inspired Cupcakes

It was Sunday night when I received Sheena's mobile message saying she needs some cupcakes early the next day. She's attending a meeting with a client & wish to present her client with a box of cupcakes. The first word that came to my mind was 'erkkkkkkkk'!! :-P Being a novice, I'm easily panic, especially when receiving a last minute order...He..he...

Luckily Sheena made it easier for me when she told me any cupcakes flavor will do for her, her only request was that her cupcakes deco have to be 'manly'. I was actually stumped for ideas when my mind suddenly drifted to the Academy Award program I was watching moments before I receive Sheena's message. Somehow the old western/cowboy movie, True Grit, stuck to mind. Cowboy  theme does sound 'manly', rite? :-P

Dibo The Gift Dragon Cake

With the cupcakes craze that's going on around, it has been quite some time since I was last commissioned to do a cake. Oh! I do bake some for my own guilty pleasure though ;-)

Recently, when my close friend, Mona, told me that she wished to order a cake for her son's birthday, I couldn't help feeling excited about the prospect of baking one. Little did I know that I'll end up doing something I've never done before. And I REALLY mean NEVERRRRR!! Never ever!!

Wait for it...wait for it...Drum roll please ( or should I ask for those scary movie background musics? ha..ha... ) Yup, I was asked to do figurines!! FIGURINES!! I nearly had a heart attack when Mona told me her request. Me, a novice baker, never been to any classes what-so-ever was asked to do figurines! Heck! I don't even know the difference between fondant & gum paste, and I'm supposed to do figurines?!! Pause...Drama-queen moment!

But in all honesty, I've really never done any figurine of any kind...If you've followed my earlier posts, you'll see that I'm still struggling to make those basic ( I repeat, basic ) fondant flowers...Ha..ha..*blush*

Not wanting to disappoint Mona, I told her, I'll try to work something out...It still didn't cross my mind to do the figurines myself at that time :-P I thought I could 'cheat' by getting a toy of Dibo or something to that effect :-P Unfortunately my search for a Dibo toy seemed fruitless as after visiting nearly five shopping malls, I still couldn't find one! All I could find was Barney!! I've no choice but to admit my defeat to Mona & figure something else...Mona, being the supportive friend that she is, whole heartedly encouraged me to do the figurine...She just wanted me to give it a try & was even willing to accept how ever my Dibo gonna end up looking :-P I remember her telling me, "Just try it...It can be crooked, a blob, anything, but just try"...

How can I say no to such encouragement & support? With her words in my mind & my mantra of 'do @ die', I took out my fondant...

Now get ready to suppress those laughters & giggles! Introducing my 1st ever figurine cake...Tadaaaaaaaaa!!

He..he...A Blob Purple Dibo :-P

Think My Dibo is Wayyyyyyy Laid Back ;-)

Despite me going all panicky and crazy while doing my figurines ( yup! I did laughed all to myself the whole time I did it! ), I had such a great time! It was totally a new & awesome experience for me. I admit I have tonnes to learn in improving my figurines but at least now I understand the whole process of doing figurines much better. It also reinforce my respect to all figurine makers :-) I have to admit, it's not so easy a task! Or maybe it's just me :-P

To my dear Mona, where would I be without you? Your love, encouragement & support means the world to me! I can honestly guarantee that if you did not push me hard, making figurines would still be a far away dream for me...Thanks to you, I now can say, "I did it!" :-x

I hope you & family, especially Aqil, had enjoyed the cake. Thanks so much for everything but most of all, thanks for 'accepting' my Dibo despite it's not-so-perfect look...Ha...Ha...Love you tonnes dear! Hugssssssssssssss!!

Cupcakes For Mum-To-Be

There's nothing I wouldn't do for mum-to-be, Reen...That's how great a friend she is to me. So when she texted me saying that she's yearning for my cupcakes, I immediately whipped up a batter despite it being way past midnight :-P Anything for my dear sweet Reen :-x

My only regret was that I couldn't spend much time doing the decoration as I needed to deliver the cupcakes early the next morning...This is all I could muster in a short time that I had *blush*

Celebrating Love

Fulfilling Fieza's order is something I always look forward to as it give me a reason to meet up with her :-) I love seeing her! Though we only met once before, it felt as though we've known each other for ages! That's how special Fieza is to me :-)

Fieza recently celebrated her 'love' anniversary with darling bf & she wanted to surprise him with some personalized goodies. Being a die-hard fan of my American Carrot Cake, Fieza requested for the same flavor, only this time it's in a shape of cupcakes.

I was feeling the loveeeeeeeee when I did Fieza's goodies :-) Can't help remembering what it felt like being young & in love...What a wonderful feeling it was *day dreaming*

Mini Town Cupcakes

Parents to baby Khayr, Lilia & Khairul are such a devoted & loving parents that one simply can't resist sharing their joy & delight in bringing up their one and only son. Honestly, from the first time I met Khayr, I've fallen head over heels in love with him! He's such a bubbly & happy baby, infact I honestly could say that he's THE happiest baby I've met so far...and I've met quite a number of babies :-) Just thinking about Khayr makes me want to squeeze him in my arms & hear those contagious giggles of him :-P

It's a no brainer then on why I got all excited ( practically jumped with joy! ) when I received a call from Lilia, telling me of her intention in ordering a birthday cuppies to celebrate Khayr's 1st birthday. What an honor!

So excited was I over this that I decided to do a special birthday cuppies for Khayr - his own 'Mini Town'! An idea which was inspired from one of my best childhood toy, Lego :-) I really had so much fun doing the cupcakes deco. It kind of transported me back in time :-P

Cupcakes For A Cutey Pie

Yes, 'cutey pie' is the only way I could describe Elzahra...With her fair skin, round eyes & curly hairs, it took a lot of effort for me not to squeeze her in my arms each time I see her :-) What a cutey she is!

It was her birthday a few weeks back & mumsie, Reen, requested a pink & blue themed birthday cupcakes to grace her special day.

Something Simple, Something Sweet...

When I met a new client of mine, Tengku Nurzaheran, those were the words she kept telling me when we discussed her engagement gift cupcakes :-)

I've always love it when I'm baking my goodies for someone, much more so when it's for their special occasion like engagements @ weddings...There's something about love, engagements and weddings that always make my knees go weak. Yup! I'm known among my family & friends for being a sucker when it comes to anything 'lovey dovey' :-P What is life without romance, right? *day dreaming*

As much as I loveeeeeee making goodies for those special occasion, honestly, I can't help feeling 'panicky' each time I'm making it! I know how it feels like wanting everything to be perfect for your special day so I usually push myself to come up with perfect goodies as best as I could  :-)

The same goes when I did Tengku's cupcakes...Gosh! You couldn't imagine the nearly 'panic attack' I had, especially when I was given less than a week's notice for this order :-P Tengku is such a sweet person & I wanted my goodies to reflect those special traits of hers.

Here are the cupcakes which I did for her engagement day...
