Tom & Jerry Birthday Cake

My heart skipped a beat & practically went straight to my throat when I received Sue's phone call :-P She was wondering if I could come up with a birthday cake for her nephew within a few short hours :-P I don't know why, but short notice orders could really send me into a frenzy! I'm easily panic & can really get cold feet! :-P I guess that's because I'm such a beginner when it comes to cake decorating ( despite being involve in cake baking for years ) :-P I'm a self taught cake decorator, so as you can guess, I'm pretty 'novice' when it comes to creating cake designs *blush*

Anyway, Sue being one of the sweetest person that I've known, I just don't have the heart to disappoint her, so I accepted her order ( while praying that I'll manage to come up with a decent looking cake! ) :-P Her request was for a Tom & Jerry themed birthday cake. With the time constraint, I wasn't able to let my imagination flow freely so this was all I could come up with :-P

An Honor Indeed!

I think by now you all know just how much I love baking & decorating cakes :-P Whipping up recipes, baking cakes & decorating it are just heavenly to me! Ermmm, the cleaning part is something I still struggle with :-P Hate it! *chuckles*

Yes, I love baking but wanna know what I love best? Baking goodies for my dear friends for sure! Especially when it's for their little ones :-)

Few years back, when my dear friend, Lilia, requested that I make a special cupcakes for her son, Khayr's 1st birthday, I was beyond excited! So imagine how I felt when I received another request from Lilia - this time for Khayr's 2nd birthday :-) I'm just truly honored!

To my dear Lilia, I know this post is wayyyyyyyyyyyy back-dated *blush* Am truly sorry for this ( no thanks to my crazy hard disk! ). Nevertheless, do know that it's written with much love :-x Special thanks to you & Kerol for giving me the opportunity to create yet another birthday cake for Khayr. No words can describe how much I value your support & encouragement! Errmmm, maybe this will give you some idea - thank you...thank you...THANK YOU!

Many thanks too for sharing your personal photos with me :-) I've always loveeeeeeeeeeee looking at your family's photo! Such a great family you have there. You are truly blessed my dear :-x

Oh oh! Am suddenly lost for words! Think my brain is shutting down already as it's nearing 3:00am!

Time for my beauty sleep dearies :-P Till my next post, nighty nite all!

A...B...C!

I guess from my non-stop ramblings through this blog of mine, plus the imperfect looking decorations of my goodies *blush*, by now everyone would probably know what a true & true novice I am in this cake baking & decorating :-P Yup! Two years into this trade and I still find myself struggling to catch up on the ABC's of cake decorating :-P Honestly, when I first ventured into this line, little did I know what a big scope cake decorating can be! All this while I really thought it's just 'bake a cake - frost - decorate' & walaa! you'll have yourself a pretty little cake! Obviously I was sooooooo wrong! Just shows how little I know, right?! Huh, what do you expect from someone who doesn't even know how to cook before :-P *super blush*

Honestly, I still can't believe how many things I need to learn just to cover the basic 'dos & don'ts' of this new passion of mine. With new decorating techniques popping up mostly every day, I'm pretty sure I'll STILL be a novice five years from now :-P Sometimes I find myself wondering if ever I'll get to master at least some of the techniques *wishful thinking*

Talking about the ABC's of cake decorating, let me tell you that there are just tonnes of cake decorating techniques that I'm dying to try but never have the guts to! Yes! I'm THAT insecure when it comes to cake decorating :-P One of the techniques that I've been wanting to try is buttercream ruffles...I really can't tell you the number of times I have actually picked up my piping bag to do this technique but always find myself backing away from it & instead opted for a 'safer' kind of decoration :-P Oh yea! Thousands & thousands of times! I somehow find it so nerve-wrecking to try making those ruffles!

When Ramadzan contacted me & told me of his intention to present his special someone with a birthday cake, my mind immediately thought of the buttercream ruffles. Moreover, Ramadzan requested for a sweet coloured cake deco. After putting much thought & understanding his requirements, I was pretty sure that this deco suits his cake best...The question is, will I be able to pull it off. Guess I'll let you be the judge of it ;-)

Pssttt! Tell me if you think I've failed yea! Pinky promise?

Yes! I Desperately Need To Practice More :-P

To Ramadzan, my sincere thanks to you for your purchase but most of all, many thanks for giving me the opportunity & for trusting me enough to make your special cake :-) I do hope the cake I've created for you brought thousands of smile on your special someone's face :-)

Okay, I'm heading off to my practice board - pronto! Better start practicing those ruffles if ever I want to catch up! Tonnes of techniques still need to learn! Ngeeee! *getting panickier by the seconds!*

Till my next post, sending much love to each & every one of you :-) Big hugs! ✗o✗o

Cutie Pie Syaima

I honestly can't stop smiling ( over & over again! ) each time I thought of this cake :-) Yes, so many sweet memories was made by just this one birthday cake...Truth be told, this cake was one of the fun & exciting cake I've made so far...Not only because of the cake, but because of whom I'm making it for :-)

This cake was requested by none other than my dear, dear friend and my #1 fan, Ms. Suraya :-) Suraya wanted to make a special cake for one of her nieces, Syaima, who's celebrating her 2nd birthday. If I remember well, Suraya actually put in her cake request a month before Syaima's birthday and all she said to me was, "Syaima loves pink colour, the cartoon character Barney, Cinderella, Snow White and Upin & Ipin ( a Malaysian made animated cartoon characters )...The rest, I'll leave it up to you"....I remembered thinking 'uh-ohhhhhhh' :-P Yup! I was so worried about coming up with the best looking cake for cutie pie Syaima *pressured!*

After much to & fro excited phone calls & mobile messages from Suraya ( Oh yes! Syaima's aunt was super excited about the cake as well...he..he...), both of us finally settled for a Rainbow Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream with edible & fondant decorations :-)

*Sigh!* Guess I Need To Practice More :-P

Isn't That The Cutest Face To See On A Cake? :-P

It was super fun making this cake as not only did I enjoy every moment chatting away on my mobile with Suraya, I was also introduced to Suraya's other family members :-) I especially loved it when I get to share & see Syaima's baby photo. She's one cute baby & still is :-)

Here are some of the fun fact about the cake that I'll forever cherished, thanks to Suraya's feedback & excited smses she has sent to me :-)
  • Guess who never left the cake from the moment the cake was collected & even became a 'guard', guarding the cake ever so tightly that others are denied access to come near the cake?...Cutie pie Syaima! :-P
  • Guess who was sooooooo in love with the cake that the person can't stand being away from the cake?...Yes, cutie pie Syaima again! :-P
  • Bet you can guess who cried at the thought of cutting the cake when others were happily singing 'Happy Birthday' to her...Yes, cutie pie Syaima! I was so touched when I heard this from Suraya...Can't imagine the look on Syaima's face, crying infront of her cake :'(
  • Guess who had to be cajoled by her mum & aunts for nearly 20 minutes to cut the birthday cake?...Yes, cutie pie Syaima! Isn't that the cutest thing you've read? :-P

Heck! I'm still smiling right this minute remembering Suraya & cutie pie Syaima :-) Both of you gave me such happiness sweeties!

To Suraya & her lovely family, my sincere thanks for choosing my goodies to grace Syaima's special day. I am indeed honoured to be a part of it :-) Suraya, many..many...many thanks to you & Maini for the continuous support both of you had showered me with. Big hugssssssssss to you dear!

To the cutest birthday girl, Syaima, you'll forever have a special place in my memory :-) I still can't get over the fact of how cute you are :-) Sending you a big wet kiss! Muahhhhhhhhhh!

A Blessing...

Being a one-person baker sure have it's up & down moments...Down moment is when there are so many things I want to do yet couldn't due to my limited sources, like my hands! :-P Though I'm not complaining ( as I love every baking moment ), I do wish I have an extra set of octopus hands :-) Maybe a device of some sort where I can strap it on whenever I need extra hands to do my baking & much more :-P There are also times when I simply had ( this always break my heart! ) to decline an order/request due to my full baking schedules. Believe me, I would always, always try my best to fulfill all requests but sometimes a girl ( ermmm, maybe I should say woman ) just don't have enough time in a day, another down moments :-( Being sick/unwell is another down moment for me...If I could bake from my bed when I'm unwell, I would definitely do it :-P

Nevertheless, despite all those down moments I have to go through, I'm so blessed with much more up moments :-) One particular blessing I'm always & forever will be grateful for is the love, support & understanding of all my loyal customers & supporters. Hugs! No matter what down moments I'm facing, they were always there supporting me in every way. For this I thank you my dears :-x

Another blessing I'm ever so grateful for is the constant streaming of new customers & friends that I've been receiving lately. No words can ever express my thanks & appreciation to each & every one of you who took 'a leap of faith' in trying out my goodies :-) Much love to you!

One such person, who turns out to be such a loyal customer & definitely a friend, is Ms. Hasnita from Puchong :-) To tell the truth, I wasn't sure where or how she heard of me, but I'm just grateful that she was willing to try out my goodies when she placed her first order with me :-) I remembered how nervous I was when receiving Hasnita's order :-P Yup! I always get so nervous when fulfilling orders for new customers, you know those hands & legs shaking kind of nervous :-P Thankfully Hasnita was happy with her first order & has ever since ordered countless of goodies from me :-)

Here are some photos sent in by Hasnita...Thanks so much for sharing dear :-) As you might be aware, all my photo folders in my laptop was 'swallowed up' & couldn't be recovered till date :-( A major down moment for me :'(

To my dear Hasnita, your love & support means the world to me :-) Thank you so much & I do hope I'll be getting much more love from you :-)

To all my loyal friends & customers, you all are my blessing & will always be my up moments :-) From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for everything - for the encouragements, supports, recommendations, understanding, patience, compassion & most of all for the love you've showered me with *teary eyes* Hugssssssss!

Happy Birthday Dear Sabrina!

This post has actually been sitting in my 'draft box' for quite sometime...Didn't post it as I was waiting for some additional photos from my dear friend, ME ;-) Life seemed to be quite hectic for her lately as only yesterday she managed to e-mail me the photos...Thanks so much dear & my apologies for all the sms reminders :-P ( You did asked me to do so! He..he... )

A few weeks back, her daughter, who is also one of my many god-daughters, Sabrina, celebrated her belated birthday at Al Rawsha, Jalan Damai. It was a family affair thus I was honored when ME invited me for the special event...Boy! Did I have a great time there...A truly new experience for me as it's my first time trying out Middle Eastern food!! I did hear people drooling over the food at Al Rawsha but I've never known why....Now I do!! Totally different from my usual dining experience...The food, the setting, the environment...

Owhhh! Enough about my food experience....Getting out of topic here! Maybe I'll write up another post about Al Rawsha next time ;-)

Let's get back to my sweet & shy girl, Sabrina...She really has grown up from the last time I saw her ( which makes me feel soooooooooooo OLD!!! Ha...ha... ). Anyway, for her birthday celebration, ME has decided to make it special by ordering a cake with edible family photos...A really great set of photos I might say...Luv it! In one of our telephone calls, ME did mentioned to me that Sabrina's favorite colour are blue & orange...So I decided to in-corporate that as well in her cake ;-)

To my dear Sabrina, all my love & prayers for you...May you grow up to be a great person & make your parent proud! Don't stop flashing that sweet smile of yours ;-)

To ME and family, thank you so much for giving me the chance to bake Sabrina's cake...I am truly honored! Thank you too for your invitation & for opening me up to a new dining experience ;-) I'm heading there again soon :-P
