Decorating With Buttercream

Decorating cake with buttercream have never been my forte. In fact, if I could be bluntly honest, I find it quite intimidating :-P No matter how many time I practice, I just feel that my buttercream decorating skill is wayyyy below par. Those slight uneven cream or not sharp edges can really irk me at times. That is when my OCD goes to hyper drive! And I have to tell you, it's not a pretty feeling! Usually by the time I'm done with my buttercream decoration, I'll be truly drained! Just covering a cake with buttercream layer would take me hours! Yeah, I'm THAT petty! *chuckles* So you can imagine how many hours I usually take to finish covering & decorating a cake :-P

Any way, when I was requested by Ms. Hasnita to create her Chocolate Moist Cake, I was feeling rather 'daring' & decided to try something different. This was what I came up with ;-)

Friendship

When I first met this bubbly group of gals, the first thing that struck me was how wonderful their friendship is :-) And I just love that about them! They share everything together - laughter, joy, sadness, everything!

Friendship is one of life's greatest treasures...It is to me. It's something I value deeply. So when I was asked by these lovely gals to create a birthday surprise for one of their best friend, Syikin, I was indeed over the moon with happiness & truly honored :-)

Engagement Cupcakes

I have always loveeee making wedding/engagement goodies. I guess you could say that I'm a softie when it comes to lovey dovey things.Yea...yea...hate to admit it but I'm such a romantic fool *blush*

You can imagine then how excited I was when my dear friend, Ms. Nurul called me up, requesting that I make an engagement cupcakes for her. Nurul plan to present it to her friend who's getting engage. What a sweet gesture :-)

So excited I was about creating Nurul's goodies that I decided to take the plunge & try my hands on making some handmade fondant roses. Do bear in mind that I've NEVER done handmade fondant flowers before so this was a BIG step for me :-P

Short Notice Wedding Cupcakes

Short notice orders always send me into a frenzy & cause ultimate panic attack! :-P You REALLY wouldn't want to see me during those times as I will 'magically' turn into a berserk person - hair flying in all directions, heart beating non-stop, running all over the house like a headless chicken & all! Ha! Ha! But really, I turn into such an ugly hag each time I receive last minute orders. Hence why I usually shy away from such orders :-P

However, I just can't deny Ms. Fauziana's last minute order when she called me up asking for some cupcakes. How could I say 'no' as it was for a very special occasion - a wedding! Now you know what a romantic fool I am, right? How could I say no to wedding goodies? Absolutely a no-no! :-P

Fauziana's request was for some Chocolate Moist Cupcakes with a pink & purple theme. And her other surprise was that she'll be picking it up at 3am! Yes, you've read it correctly. 3 am as in three in the morning :-P Understanding her dilemma in preparing the wedding & all, I agreed to help her out & come up with this set of cupcakes :-)

Tom & Jerry Birthday Cake

My heart skipped a beat & practically went straight to my throat when I received Sue's phone call :-P She was wondering if I could come up with a birthday cake for her nephew within a few short hours :-P I don't know why, but short notice orders could really send me into a frenzy! I'm easily panic & can really get cold feet! :-P I guess that's because I'm such a beginner when it comes to cake decorating ( despite being involve in cake baking for years ) :-P I'm a self taught cake decorator, so as you can guess, I'm pretty 'novice' when it comes to creating cake designs *blush*

Anyway, Sue being one of the sweetest person that I've known, I just don't have the heart to disappoint her, so I accepted her order ( while praying that I'll manage to come up with a decent looking cake! ) :-P Her request was for a Tom & Jerry themed birthday cake. With the time constraint, I wasn't able to let my imagination flow freely so this was all I could come up with :-P

A simple Smiley Cupcakes I did for Ms. Fiza :-) Fiza's order was for Chocolate Moist cupcakes with chocolate ganache & decorated with smiley faces :-)

To my dear Fiza, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to create your goodies :-) Though it was a short notice order, I have to admit that despite the time constraint, I really had so much fun 'playing dough' making the smiley faces :-) Thank you & hope your special someone enjoyed the cupcakes ;-)
